Pilates (pi-lah-tees) is a form of exercise focusing on precisely-controlled movements, correct postural alignment, minimal repetitions, mental concentration and breath control.
It involves a sliding exercise platform, known as a “reformer,” as well as a variety of springs, pullies, weights and other equipment.
The Pilates technique was originally created by Joseph Pilates, born in Germany in 1880. Mr. Pilates devised this innovative form of exercise to overcome physical ailments of his own, as well as to help bedridden hospital patients exercise with resistance using a variety of springs he fastened to their beds.
Pilates will complement ANY fitness program.
